London Eye
See Westminster, Parliament and the Thames from a 30-minute rotation, with timed entry and extra queue time to plan around
The London Eye gives one of central London’s clearest postcard views: Westminster Bridge, the Houses of Parliament and the Thames unfold together as the capsule rises. The wheel moves slowly and the enclosed glass capsule completes a rotation in about 30 minutes, giving first-time visitors, families and skyline fans time to pick out the city’s best-known landmarks without turning the attraction into a half-day commitment.
Plan for more than the rotation itself. Your booked time is when you join the queue, not a promise of immediate boarding, and waits can reach about 45 minutes at peak times. Fast Track can shorten the boarding queue, but it does not remove the crowds around County Hall, Westminster Bridge and the South Bank. Keep tickets ready, agree a meeting point before entering the busiest area, and leave enough margin for security, boarding and the walk to your next stop.
Waterloo is usually the simplest arrival. After the ride, move away from the immediate queue area before deciding what comes next. If you have more time, continue east along the river towards Borough Market. Treat the County Hall strip as a convenient fallback rather than the highlight; the stronger follow-on is the riverside itself, with its bridges, landmarks and changing London views.
